СHRYSANTHEMUM by Galina Smirnskaya

At the creative marathon, which I adore, the assignment was to take one object and draw it in different styles! I was inspired by my favorite artists: Egon Schiele, Leon Bakst, Zinaida Serebryakova, Alexander Golovin, Van Gogh, Chinese painting and graphics, Rousseau and Matisse (his period when he started making collages)

The subject was a white chrysanthemum given to me at the exhibition opening! It proved to be very persistent and stayed fresh and lush for a long time! The process was fascinating. I did one picture a day and immediately thought of the next. Each drawing took an hour and a half on A3 paper. There were different papers and materials: watercolor, gouache, pastel, pencil, colored paper, ink, and acrylics.
